Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our AWS-based software products. You’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, DevOps engineers, and architects to drive operational excellence and build resilient, automated infrastructure using modern tools.

This is a high-impact position suited for someone with a strong background in software engineering, a deep understanding of AWS, and a passion for automation, stability, security, observability, and optimization. You will be joining a team that loves working together and supporting each other, and that prioritizes balance in work and life.

This role is hybrid (Tuesday – Thursday in office) and is located in Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, manage, and secure scalable infrastructure solutions on AWS using best practices and modern tooling such as AWS CDK.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python or TypeScript.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to ensure platform health and operational visibility.
  • Partner with software engineering teams to improve service reliability, performance, availability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead incident response efforts, postmortems, and root cause analysis to continuously improve system resilience.
  • Assist with the design, development, and enforcement of DevOps best practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and secure deployment strategies.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of our infrastructure roadmap and participate in capacity planning and scaling efforts.
  • Assist with software engineering tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability, DevOps, or Software Engineering roles.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, ECS, Fargate, Lambda, Step Functions, Event Bridge, VPC, S3, IAM) and cloud architecture best practices.
  • Significant experience with AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) and CloudFormation.
  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, and a commitment to clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, and container orchestration.
  • Experience securing infrastructure in AWS, and with AWS Security tools such as Security Hub and Guard Duty.
  • Experience with AWS and open-source monitoring and observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Familiarity with building and utilizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, CodePipeline) and deployment automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative, friendly attitude.

Preferred

  • AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
  • Experience with the NodeJS ecosystem is a plus
  • Experience with MongoDB is a plus
  • Experience ensuring compliance in cloud environments, and with SOC 2 Type 2
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
