Bridges on Implants
It is always beneficial to have natural teeth to support dental bridges. However, this is not the only way to go, since bridges can be attached to implants as well! With that being said, there are a few things patients need to consider before starting the procedure.
Stages of the procedure
✓ At first, the dentist examines the patient to make sure the gums will support the implant.
✓ In case the answer is positive, they will proceed to insert a titanium post into the gum, and a three-to-six-month gap will follow for the jawbone to grow around the post.
✓ When the jawbone is fully grown and healed, it is time to attach a dental crown to the post.
✓ All this makes up the first stage of the treatment.
✓ When the implant is successfully secured with no further issues, a bridge can be prepared and fixed in place.
✓ The dentist will make necessary alterations and fix any imperfections during follow-up visits.
Bridges on implants have very certain advantages
The main benefit patients consider is cosmetic improvement:
- healthy and beautiful smile is no short of a dream-come-true for most of us, and bridges on implants do guarantee this.
Another advantage besides the great aesthetic is that
- bridges do not depend on the patient’s teeth for support, which means that your healthy, undamaged teeth will not undergo any extra modification.
