Join Our Team as an RN Clinical Staff Med/Surg Tele - Full Time Nights!

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking to make a real difference in patient care? At Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital , we are seeking dedicated professionals to join our telemetry medical-surgical unit during night shifts. Here, you’ll provide high-quality, individualized care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

Position Overview

As a Clinical Staff Nurse , you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional nursing care and managing patient needs. Reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor of Telemetry, you will be responsible for:

• Organizing, planning, and directing patient care based on the Watson Model of Care.
• Identifying and addressing the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
• Actively participating in fulfilling the mission and core values of our hospital.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Utilize the nursing process as a problem-solving model to anticipate and meet patient and family needs.
• Conduct thorough nursing assessments and adapt care plans based on clinical changes.
• Apply current research and critical thinking to make informed clinical decisions.
• Foster therapeutic relationships with patients and families, ensuring their rights are respected.
• Communicate effectively using the SBAR method during hand-offs.
• Document patient care accurately, following hospital policies and procedures.
• Support patient comfort through tailored physical and psychosocial interventions.
• Collaborate with Care Managers for effective discharge planning.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient conditions to the healthcare team.
• Evaluate nursing interventions and document outcomes in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care (IPOC).
• Supervise and mentor ancillary nursing personnel and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

What We’re Looking For

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Associate degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent.
• Internal candidates who have completed the MLKCH Versant Nurse Residency Program will be considered.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
• At least 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
• Current California Nursing license.
• Basic EKG competence.
• Certifications in Progressive Critical Care Nursing and Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred.

Special Skills & Knowledge

• Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Dysrhythmia Course certificate preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card within 90 days of hire.
