Job Description
Summary:
The Mobile Phlebotomist travels to Company’s client locations and to patient homes to provide phlebotomy by collecting specimens for use by clinicians and/or medical technologists for clinical analyses, evaluations and/or diagnostic procedures. She/he performs clerical, patient care and limited technical support for laboratory clients.
Essential Functions:
• Travel to patient locations (Client sites and patient homes) to perform venipuncture, capillary sampling and heel punctures, these include but are not limited to client facilities, house calls and stats.
• Follow proper protocol when collecting samples, examples include but are not limited to, introducing self, verifying patient identity, collecting specimens for all tests listed on requisition, clarifying tests when information is not specific, labeling specimens accurately for identification purposes, transporting and centrifuging.
• Complete appropriate paperwork for each test, patient and/or client in a thorough and accurate manner
• Complete and submit appropriate administrative paperwork neatly and timely, such as time and expense reports.
• Able to operate various computer systems and assist nursing staff with computer operating instructions.
• Maintain inventory of his/her supplies to ensure adequate amount of materials are on hand; requests supplies, as necessary.
• Present a professional demeanor, deliver positive customer service and dress pursuant to company standards
• Be alert and aware at all times to ensure safety, accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area
• Follow proper laboratory safety procedures.
• Maintain efficient flow of verbal and written orders including, but not limited to timely arrival and on-call pages
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Display competency, accuracy and honesty while completing payment transactions.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduation Certificate from a formal accredited Phlebotomy program
• National Phlebotomy Certification
• Minimum of 3 (current) years of phlebotomy
• Working knowledge of clinical laboratory and tests performed
• Strong communications skills – written, verbal, and listening.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Able to work independently
• Ability to work and deliver services in fast-paced environments, as well as, manage multiple priorities.
• Valid motor vehicle license, a reliable vehicle and insurance to travel from site(s) to home office
