The Chemical Plant Operator is responsible for taking daily inventory, unloading, and loading raw materials and finished goods, as well as helping in any of the other operations departments. Chemical Operators are also responsible for using and maintaining equipment used to blend chemicals. Key skills include the ability to lift up to 75 lbs, frequent walking to complete inventory, checking for leaks, and opening/closing storage tanks. Operators are required to run a skid loader and forklift and must use a respirator to unload Acetic acid, Formic acid, and Aqua Ammonia. The role involves tolerating temperature extremes up to 110°F in production and outside conditions, working in all-weather elements, and in environments with moderately loud noise levels. A high school diploma is required, with 1 to 2 years of chemical plant experience preferred but not required. Operators must acquire sufficient skill and knowledge of chemical processes, utilize computer/electronic equipment, and maintain safety-oriented work habits with strong attention to detail. Responsibilities include unloading raw materials, operating production equipment (pumps, blenders, reactors, weigh scales), reading charts and meters, collecting and labeling samples for lab testing, preparing containers for transport, labeling packaged materials per regulations, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring quality documentation, operating various plant equipment safely, completing daily batches under supervision, following safety and environmental procedures, completing daily inventory with the Plant Manager, working in other operation areas including maintenance, maintaining a clean and safe environment, passing pulmonary function tests, and wearing respiratory protection as required. Other duties as assigned.
